Economic Costs

But how much does it cost?

Health economics have taught us a lesson that all diseases have a cost, and varying impacts on society. From the common cold to a severe mental disorder, they all put a toll on the individual, the community and the society. Recovering from mental illnesses, unlike recovering from a cold, is a long and arduous war, and like all wars, puts immense pressure on not only the victim but also the economy.

By conducting large scale population studies like the HKYES, we can extrapolate patterns identified in our sample, and from that, project a reliable and most importantly, true-to-life forecast of expenditures dedicated to the betterment of mental health.
